The Bulldogs fell to Sidney 12U 5-4 on Thursday at 627 Toledo St in Sidney — on the final play of the game. Sidney trailed 4-1 in the bottom of the fifth when Macey S tripled to clear the bases and put the home team ahead for good.
Haxtun actually out-hit Sidney 5-3 but couldn’t close it out.
Hits: Phoenix B., Kortlyn C., Amber E., Palmer H., and Tyndle M. each had one.
Scoring:
- Top 1: Tyndle M. singled to put Haxtun on the board.
- Top 3: Phoenix B. singled, making it 2-0.
- Bottom 5: Sidney plated five on one hit — Macey S.’s bases-clearing triple the dagger.
Pitching: Kortlyn C. started in the circle and went four innings — two hits, three runs, 10 strikeouts, eight walks. Harper G. earned the win for Sidney out of the bullpen (two-thirds of an inning). Ashlynn P. started for Sidney: four innings, five hits, four runs (three earned), six K, three BB.
Production: RBIs for Phoenix B., Kortlyn C., Amber E., and Tyndle M. Palmer H. stole two bases. The team had patience at the plate again — five walks. The Bulldogs swiped six bases as a team. Clean defense, no errors; Palmer led the field with 10 chances.
