Haxtun Softball 12U took Tuesday’s game in dramatic fashion, with a 7-6 walk-off victory over Grant 12U at the Haxtun Baseball Field. With the game tied at six in the bottom of the fifth, Tyndle M. singled to drive in the winning run and seal the second win of the season.
The Bulldogs took a 6-2 lead after the bottom of the fourth — a five-run rally on four hits — but Grant fought back in the top of the fifth on a double, ground out, and single to knot it at six. Tyndle’s bottom-of-the-fifth single ended it.
Kyla W. delivered the biggest swing of the rally in the bottom of the fourth: a two-RBI single on an 0-2 count. Phoenix B. went 2-for-2 to lead the team in hits, and Aisley F. led with two walks. The Bulldogs racked up eight hits, five walks, and seven stolen bases for the game and didn’t commit a single error in the field. Palmer H. had the most chances defensively with 10.
In the circle: Phoenix B. started and went four innings, giving up three runs on six hits with nine strikeouts and four walks. Amber E. came in to close and earned the win — two-thirds of an inning with one strikeout and one walk.
The Bulldogs are now 2-4 on the season. Next up: Thursday at home.
