Haxtun Softball 12U had trouble keeping up with Imperial 12U in a 9-2 loss on Tuesday at the Haxtun Baseball Field.
The Bulldogs opened the scoring in the bottom of the first thanks to two walks, with Phoenix B drawing a bases-loaded walk for the first run. Imperial pushed it to 5-2 in the top of the third after Leah hit an inside-the-park home run scoring two, an error scored one more, and Summer singled, scoring another.
Amber E started in the circle for Haxtun. The right-hander gave up four hits and five runs (three earned) over three innings, striking out seven and walking seven. Kenzie started for Imperial, surrendering zero hits and two runs over one inning of work, striking out three and walking five.
Oakley M led the Bulldogs with one run batted in. Oakley also paced the team with two walks. Overall, Haxtun showed patience at the plate, drawing seven walks for the game.
Imperial’s Kaydence — the number seven hitter — led her team with three hits in three at-bats. Summer and Leah each drove in two runs. Imperial drew 10 walks of their own and didn’t commit an error in the field.
The Bulldogs welcome Oshkosh 12U on Thursday for their next game.
