Haxtun Softball 12U couldn’t keep up with Yuma Outlaw 12U and fell 14-7 on Thursday at the Haxtun Baseball Field.
Yuma jumped on Haxtun in the top of the first: Emerson singled down the right-field line, Brooklyn singled to right, Kimberly walked, Swayze singled to left, Kendall walked, and Natalie walked — each crossing the plate to make it 6-0.
The Bulldogs answered with five runs on zero hits in the bottom of the first. Amber E. was hit by a pitch (RBI), Pyper J. walked (run), Kyla W. walked (run), Tayla M. walked (run), and #23 was hit by a pitch (RBI).
Yuma added more in the second when Emerson grounded out, Charlee singled to center, and Brooklyn singled to right — each scoring a run. In the top of the fourth they broke it open with five more runs on three hits, capped by Kimberly’s inside-the-park grand slam.
Pitching: Natalie earned the win for Yuma — zero hits, one run, two innings, four strikeouts, three walks. Charlee opened the circle for Yuma: zero hits and five runs over one-third of an inning with six walks.
Bulldogs at the plate: six different players drove in a run — Waylyn H., #23, Tayla M., Pyper J., Kyla W., and Tyndle M. The team showed real patience, drawing 11 walks for the game. Phoenix B., Palmer H., Kyla W., and Oakley M. each took two free passes. Phoenix stole two bases.
Defense: zero errors as a team. Palmer H. led the field with six chances.
