Despite a 6-run deficit in the fourth inning, Haxtun Softball 12U almost came all the way back, eventually falling 6-4 to Oshkosh Softball 12U on Thursday at the Haxtun Baseball Field. The Bulldogs closed the gap by scoring on a walk, a hit by pitch, an error, and a walk.
A triple by Tansey A put Oshkosh on the board in the top of the second. Oshkosh added to their early lead in the top of the third after Emma A singled and Ember A walked, each scoring one run. Oshkosh scored one more run in the top of the fourth on an inside-the-park home run by Tansey.
Tansey earned the win for Oshkosh, giving up one hit and zero runs over three innings, striking out five and walking one. Kortlyn C took the loss for the Bulldogs. The starter went three innings, giving up five runs on three hits, striking out six and walking six.
#23 and Tyndle M each collected one hit for the Bulldogs. #23, Amber E, and Palmer H each drove in a run. Palmer led the team with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting five walks for the game. Palmer stole two bases. The Bulldogs didn’t commit a single error in the field. Palmer had the most chances in the field with eight.
The Bulldogs welcome Ogallala 12U on Tuesday for their next game.
